PEERING is a system that enables safe, secure, and tightly controlled access for researchers and educators to the Internet routing system. The system is in part funded by grants from NSF and GENI. Learn more about the PEERING testbed here and about our Acceptable Use Policy here.

PEERING has points of presence (PoPs) at multiple Internet Exchange Points and universities. We have an open peering policy, and welcome peering requests from all organizations. Our 95th percentile traffic utilization is very low (often zero when no experiments are running), and we can cap our traffic towards peers as required.

  • Announcements for the prefixes we control can originate from our peering ASN (47065) or any of 47065's downstream ASNs (33207, 61574, 61575, 61576, 263842, 263843, and 263844).
  • In some cases, we may execute experiments in which we include another organization's ASN in an announced AS path (known as AS path poisoning). However, we will originate all announcements from one of our ASNs, and any poisoned ASN will be surrounded by AS47065.
